New Harbor Moonlight
Primarily a lobster and fishing village, the abundance of lobster boats and one of a kind fishing shacks make quiet, out of the way New Harbor a favorite place to sketch. I’ve painted this eye catching fishing shack during the day and was excited to try it as a night scene. The stars and full moon rising over the dock are my light source. My initial sketch did not have the rocks, seagull and beach in the foreground. I always want to have a feeling of depth in my paintings. Once I added them, the foreground popped forward, the background receded and I knew it was finished.
