Heidi Daub is a Maine painter and poet whose lyrical, layered works weave together movement, memory, and a lifelong sense of belonging to the natural world. Based on Blue Hill Peninsula since 1984, Heidi Daub brings the physical intelligence of a former gymnast, the attentiveness of a lifelong journal keeper, and the musical sensibility of a working musician to paintings that feel less like landscapes than like rivers — fluid, layered, and carrying more than they appear to hold.
Her newest collection, In the Time of Turning, emerged from years of caregiving, new grandchildren, and the confluence of generations that defines a life fully lived. Represented by Portland Art Gallery, Heidi Daub has published three compilations of paintings and poetry and built a body of work held in collections across New England and beyond.
What does a painter who has never separated art from body, music from image, or motherhood from creative practice discover when the arc of life finally bends toward something she can no longer look away from?
