Title: Echoes of Summer: New Mixed Media Works by Margot Hartford
In Echoes of Summer, multidisciplinary artist and photographer Margot Hartford presents a series of mixed media works that combine fine art photography, image transfer, paint, and plexiglass on wood panel. Each piece—Daisies, Lake, Green Dock, Tree, Wildflower, Lighthouse, Water, and Trip—measures 48 x 12 inches and layers photographic imagery with hand-worked surfaces. Hartford draws on her background in commercial photography and her early experience in the darkroom to create work that merges digital processes with physical materials.
Influenced by mid-century design and personal memories of camps, fairs, forests, and waterfront settings, Hartford often incorporates vintage figures, swimmers, florals, and landscape elements. Her image transfer process on wood panel introduces texture and depth, allowing photography and paint to exist in the same space. Based in California, Hartford continues to expand her photography and mixed media practice while teaching image transfer and encaustic workshops. This exhibition highlights her ongoing exploration of photography, collage, and material process within contemporary mixed media art.
